The new series of Celebrity Big Brother is a disappointment from a betting perspective given there is no live feed. Punters are having to feed on scraps of info that appear online on Twitter and Facebook, and wait for the highlights show on Channel 5. So we’re missing those key live moments when you can get a genuine feel of a celeb’s personality – last year’s series being a classic example during which live feed followers could see Vinnie Jones’s behaviour made him a lay in the Outright market.
Producers have leeway to set up the edit more so than ever this year in swaying public opinion. You would expect those celebs who cost most to get in the house will be the ones to get the most air time and go all the way to the finish. So that might include Kerry Katona and Jedward.
We sense this could be one retribution story too far with Kerry, whose entire media profile, based around sustaining her image of the plucky mum who keeps bouncing back from adversity, is becoming increasingly tiresome.
We much prefer the chances of Jedward who may be a couple of simpletons but they also possess real charm and their anarchic presence will keep things fun in the house. With this series looking like a ‘vote to save’ come elimination time, this is another plus for Jedward given their legions of multi-voting fans. Take the 3-1 with William Hill as they look near certs to make the final and will likely trade shorter.
Looking at the way the Outright market has settled we’re keen to take an e/w punt on ‘American Pie’ actress Tara Reid. She hasn’t had much coverage, which may be a slight concern moving forward in the series. But what we’ve seen so far, we like. We know she is a fun, party girl; she also comes across as a good listener and compassionate – she was genuinely upset for Kerry last night when she had to decide who to put up for eviction.
There’s room for her storyline to grow, and it looks like we’ll be seeing her sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Darryn Lyons tonight in the style of Marilyn Monroe, which should be an early boost. Take the 20-1 e/w with Coral, and the 25s widely available for her to win, along with the 10-1 with Coral for her to be Top Female, as there should come the chance to lay her much lower on Betfair.
