Time For Some Lucy Luck
It was disappointing to see Jukebox Juniors floored by Akai in the Got To Dance final, but Tommy landed the odds for us as Top Male in SYTYCD – advised at both 11-2 and 7-2 – and Charlie was another draw on the Outright, initially flagged up at 16s, then again at 12-1 and to be Top Female at 7-2.
What the finals of these two shows revealed once more, is the importance of betting in-running because it became clear on the night that Charlie would win after she was talked up by Lythgoe – Tommy and Charlie flip-flopping as favourites, Charlie’s odds shortening from around 5-2 to something like 1-2 on Betfair on the night. And it was a similar story with the panel’s bigging up of Akai.
Bernie Nolan, tipped up here at 9-4 a few weeks back, is now a best-priced 1-4 to win tomorrow night’s Popstar To Operastar final. It’s difficult to see Darius beating her but you might want to consider a small cover on him – though it’s hard to imagine the panel not imploring the public to pick up the phone and vote for Bernie as the gulf in class should be glaring.
The main focus of this post will be Dancing On Ice. It came as something of a surprise to see Dr Hilary drop into the bottom 2 last Sunday. We read into this that Emily Atack is polling extremely highly so reckon she is a fair bet to avoid the drop zone again this coming Sunday.
It should be Sharron Davies plus one, and if it’s not Emily against her, Sharron will likely be eliminated but she is no value at 6-4. Danny Young will probably get a bounce. Kieron incurred an injury this week, with a bit of claret involved, so you can assume a sympathetic edit for him, so we see Gary and Daniella as potentially looking vulnerable. Whoever features lower on the leaderboard out of these two could be a good bet to end up skating off against Sharron and of the two we reckon Gary is the more likely to drop down.
The Sharron/Gary, Sharron/Daniella bottom two combos are probably worth a flutter on Betfair at around 10s or bigger.
Gary is worth a speculative bet to be eliminated at 25s, and we recommend looking for prices on him being in the bottom 2, and the possibility of buying him on the elimination spread. Keep a close eye on the judges’ leaderboard though as Daniella could be a similar betting proposition, especially if she falls into third position or worse.
On the Outright Hayley and Dan are now a best-priced 4-6 and understandably so after their captivating performance last Sunday.
