Sequins & Sure Things
August has arrived which means Strictly season is just round the corner. The autumn 2025 subscription is now officially open.
Expect to see the traditional reveal of the 15 celebrities taking part in the coming weeks.
The last five seasons has seen a sequence of male (Bill Bailey), female (Rose Ayling-Ellis), male (Hamza Yassin), female (Ellie Leach), male (Chris McCausland) winners.
Two new pros have joined the show. This means there are 20 pros involved in the upcoming series so five of them will be benched.
The Strictly 2025 launch show is being filmed on Wednesday September 10. If following the usual template, this will be aired on September 20, with the first live show on September 27.
We should then see the big theme weeks fall like this:
Week 3: October 11 – Movie Week
Week 6: November 1 – Halloween Week
Week 7: November 8 – Icons Week
Week 9: November 22 – Blackpool Week
Week 11 (quarter-final): December 6 – Musicals Week
Week 13 (final): December 20
This will be the 12th year of the autumn subscription. It’s averaging +49pts profit per year going back to 2014. Last year was an excellent one earning +67pts., Chris McCausland advised to subscribers at 14-1.
Bookies are trying to make it harder for us all the time but that 2024 profit figure shows there are still opportunities in TV betting and ‘Specials’ to forge a solid profit.
2014 = +41pts
2015 = +73pts
2016 = +82pts
2017 = +26pts
2018 = -2pts
2019 = +140pts
2020 = +8pts
2021 = +53pts
2022 = +52pts
2023 = +1.5pts
2024 = +67pts
Often, it’s not just Strictly that offers a profit window and, as usual, the autumn subscription will also cover the Primetime Emmys, I’m A Celebrity and SPOTY 2025.
