Lloyd on his last legs

Nov 22, 2009 by

OK, so we’ve had time to digest last night’s performances and the bottom two tonight would appear to be a 3-way scrap between Lloyd, Jedward and Danyl.
Out of those 3, Lloyd looks a virtual certainty to be bottom 2. He was up first last night which is considered the ‘coffin box’ draw for seasoned X Factor punters.
Up first and soon forgotten about in the voting is the thinking here, and Lloyd’s rendition of Faith didn’t do much to inspire support.
Jedward provided their usual ‘entertainment’ with I’m Your Man turning into the Wham Rap in a sort of jive bunny megamix. Danyl’s attempt to pull of Careless Whisper was extremely flat and he hardly received the ringing endorsement of the judges despite Cowell’s best efforts to tell viewers at home he was brilliant.

To be fair Olly’s version of Fast Love wasn’t much better on a night when only Joe really shone, and if there’s going to be a shock result tonight, it could be Olly appearing in the bottom 2, so at 16s the Olly/Lloyd combo is worth a go.
We reckon the show probably wants Jedward for a bit longer yet, and if they land in the bottom 2 it’ll be interesting to see if the judges are able to conspire an escape for them. Against Lloyd, it’ll require deadlock, as Dannii should join Cheryl in saving Lloyd.
The imponderable is how staunch and how big Danyl’s support is. He has been in the bottom 2 before so he must be vulnerable, and the press he has received in the last week hasn’t done him any favours either. So our other advice is to back the Lloyd/Danyl combo at 2-1, and given Danyl’s alleged diva behaviour it’s also worth risking a punt on Danyl to be eliminated at 6-1, and covering on the 8-13 Lloyd.
Looking ahead to the rest of the series, Joe has been smashed on the outright betting after last night’s performance, and we’re finding it hard to see past either him or Stacey winning outright. Our advice is to back the straight forecasts – 1st Joe, 2nd Stacey; 1st Stacey 2nd Joe – at 7s and 8s with Boylesports for a minimum return of 3-1.
