X Factor Upset On The Cards?
It’s the X Factor final and strong rumours going into this weekend are that Matt has been winning the public vote comfortably over recent weeks.
This is countered by the fact he has been suffering with ill-health this week but given how strong he looks on all the online polls, it’s going to require a major momentum shift over the weekend to get him beaten. But we think this could just happen and sense a shock on the cards.
Rebecca being paired with Christina Aguilera in the duets singing ‘Beautiful’ certainly won’t harm her chances while Cowell has pushed One Direction hard and looks like continuing to do so, with his boy band project expected to sing with Robbie Williams.
We think Cher is destined for fourth place, duetting with will.i.am while teaming up with Rihanna is hardly a major boost to Matt. Looking at the rumoured song choices one wonders if Matt is being teed up for a fall, while One Direction appear to have the strongest set of songs with ‘Your Song’, ‘Torn’ and ‘Forever Young’.
It could be a case of bluff and double bluff with all these voting leaks and The Sun’s YouGov poll claiming Matt’s got it in the bag as it may lead to voter apathy among his fan base which could be Cowell’s intention.
Rebecca will sing last which is another positive for her and given Matt’s health scare and the way the final is shaping according to the rumour mill, we suggest backing the Rebecca-Matt-One Direction-Cher quadcast at a widely-available 11-2, Rebecca-One Direction-Matt-Cher at 16-1 with SkyBet, One Direction-Matt-Rebecca-Cher at 13-2 with SkyBet, and One Direction-Rebecca-Matt-Cher at a widely available 14-1, scaling bets to ensure similar profits should any of these 4 land the money.
Win or lose Rebecca singing ‘Wicked Game’ remains the stand-out cover of the series.
